Greetings:
I'm a current Redhat user _trying_ to switch to debian. More under the hood differences than I expected :-( I need to add a static IP subintrface on eth0. I used to just add a file in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts corresponding to the new intrface and reboot. No problem Now, I cant ge the d^%# thing to work. I edited /etc/network/interfaces and added the requisite section for the new interfaces: iface eth0:0 inet static address ...etc.... But when I do a ifup/down, ifconfig still shows no subinterface.ipup -a give me a list of SIOCSxxxxx No such device errors What does one have to do to add a sub interface? This is a freshly installed and updated Woody system. This was the first settign I tried to change. PITB. Thanks very much for the time to help, Scott |
