IceWM is maybe the best (still friendly) choice for the system described, but LXDE can help a great deal if you are not the customize-everything kind of user. Don't go to a lighter DE only to use the same heavy, bloated software :P Try sticking with Midori, or even you may try Chromium, they are both built around Webkit, but the former seems to be much lighter. Maybe we shall build a wiki page dedicated to low-res machines, seems like everybody has one around, and none of us are willing to throw them away. It's a different and interesting approach to computing in such conditions. Good luck!
