Hey all , I switch to E17 from Gnome3 now in Wheezy :-) , but here comes the problem :- .
I want to use the network-manager(nm) to control of network connection . As we all know , Debian provide 2 packages, network-manager and network-manager-gnome for us. Network-manager-gnome provide the **nm-applet** , which I think is a GUI front-end of network-manager. In the description of this package , it says: ** quote** This package contains a systray applet for GNOME's notification area but it also works for other desktop environments which provide a systray like KDE or Xfce. ** quote end** since E17 has the systray functionality, it can also work for E17.The problem is ** I cannnot find how to add it start it in a GUI way **. I mean, when E17 starts, nm-applet can show in the systray. I try to configure it through **Settings -> Settings Panel -> Apps -> Startup Applications -> System ** , but cannot find the **Network** item(I reference this wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/E17#NetworkManager). I have to say, it's ok to start it from CLI,just executing the nm-applet everytimes. The packages installed related to network-manager are: root@debian:~# aptitude search network-manager i A network-manager - network management framework (daemon and userspace tools) p network-manager-dbg - network management framework (debugging symbols) p network-manager-dev - network management framework (development files) i network-manager-gnome - network management framework (GNOME frontend) p network-manager-kde - transitional package for plasma-widget-networkmanagement p network-manager-openvpn - network management framework (OpenVPN plugin core) p network-manager-openvpn-gnome - network management framework (OpenVPN plugin GNOME GUI) i network-manager-pptp - network management framework (PPTP plugin core) p network-manager-pptp-gnome - network management framework (PPTP plugin GNOME GUI) p network-manager-strongswan - network management framework (strongSwan plugin) i network-manager-vpnc - network management framework (VPNC plugin core) p network-manager-vpnc-gnome - network management framework (VPNC plugin GNOME GUI) Thanks for any clue! -- ________________________ Yes, I use Debian GNU/L wolf python london(WPL) Do as you soul should do ! ________________________ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
