I was first thought in "awk" but Google suggested "fold":

sm01@stt008:~$ cat Desktop/text.txt

sm01@stt008:~$ fold -s -w 10 Desktop/text.txt
thisis a 
sample 
text file 
to seehow 
thescript 
work s...
