That is not an answer, but another question.

But in answering your question, a few reasons spring to mind:
 * Your original post is one.
 * Some hardware may start misbehaving
 * Some third party apps could start misbehaving¹
 

¹ This has happened to me. The folding at home client throws out errors
when running the 3.9 kernel, but works fine with the 3.2 kernel.
