I'm doing this for different distros even with rt patched kernels.Given the general quality of VirtualBox upstream developers (currently - Oracle), there is a huge difference between 'DKMS should build' and 'DKMS can actually build something that works'. Kernel developers put it simple: https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/10/6/317 But, rants aside - this particular problem is described at Debian Bug 696011. Long story short - out-of-tree kernel modules break from time to time, and for Virtualbox 4.1 that happened for kernels > 3.7. Solution 1: Apply patch to virtualbox kernel module source. Solution 2: Install backported Virtualbox, where the problem is solved. Which one is simplier in your option? Reco
Looks like there may be a bug, as suggested by Ralf's first link:

Likely a Debian related issue. I would use VirtualBox from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads
