Perfect, thanks... googling didn't reveal that thread... :(
Since I hadn't cp'd my original /etc/network/interfaces file (so I
couldn't do the 'ifdown -i /etc/network/interfaces.bak eth0' part, I
just found/killed the running dhcp client process.
Seems to have taken care of it.
