# nano -c /etc/network/interfaces will show line numbers for you I'm guessing you have blank lines in your interfaces file. So open that file for editing with the above command. You should find you can move the cursor to line 15 *even* though there's nothing written on it. If so use the backspace key to delete those lines - until the cursor reaches the end of line 13 (behind the "p" in "dhcp"). Then press "F2" to save, followed by "y" to save changes. You can then run:- # ifdown eth0 # ifup eth0 If you have fixed the problem there should be no error messages from the last command.
