It seems the installer's kernel doesn't recognize your Ethernet card.

What version (more precisely, which kernel)? You could try either a 
newer installer (i.e. Jessie, you can still install stable in expert 
mode) or a stable installer with a backported kernel if those still 
exist (search the web for 'kmuto image').
