even though i load the ide-scsi module at boottime, i can not mount my ide-dvd-writer. since i was perfectly able to do that on earlier installations, i am asking for hints.
problem solved.
apparently one has to compile ide and ide-mod statically into the kernel. again i have become a victim of my everything_is_a_module-obsession.
