There is a very useful program called Easyabc, but alas the present release no 
longer works, some dependency is buggered  ;-3(

$ /usr/bin/easyabc
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/share/easyabc/easy_abc.py", line 197, in <module>
    import wx
ImportError: No module named wx
