As a general rule: If someone with malicious intent has had access to your box it ain't yours anymore. But there are some things you can do in order to keep all but the most determined attackers out: * Set a boot password, either in BIOS or (U)EFI * Set another boot password in GRUB2 * Encrypt your disk with LUKS and yet another password In the end it's your decision where on the line between security and comfort you want your box.
