Hi. I was in the process of purging a package when I accidently killed the process.
Now, when I try 'apt-get --purge remove ftape-util' I get the error dpkg: error processing ftape-util (--purge): Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should reinstall it before attempting a removal. Errors were encountered while processing: ftape-util E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) So, I try 'apt-get --reinstall install ftape-util', but get the error Preparing to replace ftape-util 1:1.09.2002.03.21-0.1 (using .../ftape-util_1%3a1.09.2002.03.21-0.3_i386.deb) ... Unpacking replacement ftape-util ... cat: alsa: No such file or directory dpkg: warning - old post-removal script returned error exit status 1 dpkg - trying script from the new package instead ... cat: alsa: No such file or directory dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/ftape-util_1%3a1.09.2002.03.21-0.3_i386.deb (--unpack): subprocess new post-removal script returned error exit status 1 cat: alsa: No such file or directory dpkg: error while cleaning up: subprocess post-removal script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/ftape-util_1%3a1.09.2002.03.21-0.3_i386.deb E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) How do I fix this?? Thanks. ===== ----------------------- Simon Tod [EMAIL PROTECTED] ________________________________________________________________________ Want to chat instantly with your online friends?
