I can do right click on the system-tray and choose "panel options" and choose "add widgets" there or click "panel settings" and end up in the same menu where I can adjust the height of the panel as when clicking the "bean icon". In either way, the list of widgets stay empty but everything else does work. I tried adding a new user and use that to log in. There, the menu does work just fine. So apparently there is something in my $HOME that causes the problems. I'll try to narrow it down during the next lunch breaks :-) best regards, -christian-
