Yes, assuming standard 512-byte sectors. A lot more with large 4096-byte sectors ("4Kn" Advanced Format). 2 TiB > 2 TB, so GPT is not required for a 2 TB disk. However GPT has other advantages over MSDOS than maximum addressable size.
