MuPDF does EPUB as well as HTML, which indicates that this could be
true.  From the description:
"MuPDF is a document viewer that can show PDF, XPS, EPUB, XHTML, CBZ,
and various image formats such as PNG, JPEG, GIF, and TIFF."
