If you have a working internet connection it should be easy to install the gui, though. You might try to login as root into your terminal and then run the command apt-get install xfce4 This should hopefully install a graphical environment with the xfce4 Desktop. If you don't like xfce you can easily install other gui environments later and pick the one that fits your needs best.
