Everything is relevant. But man lp does mention -o cpi and this can also be used with lpr. I do not think your problem lies with cpi though. I have an idea; but first, you are sending a text file to the printer? Look at a page in firefox with the font set first to freefont and then to dejavu (both mono). Does either resemble your previous and present font? -- Brian.
