The Java Gregorian Calendar class was a delightful piece of software when I last used it (15 or so years ago). It does know the difference between the Julian and Gregorian calendars, among other things. I used it in a lease generation program; the program is still in use, and it's never made a mistake. AFAIK. Not as easy to use as Bash, though... -- Glenn English
