Not to forget /bin, /sbin, /usr/sbin : https://wiki.debian.org/FilesystemHierarchyStandard /bin is specified to hold "essential" programs. /sbin is its add-on for system administrators. /usr/bin + /usr/sbin together hold nearly 4000 files on my system.
