A different way around that prickly mulberry tree that gmail is, is to subscribe using 2 different names, then post exclusively to one name, and accept for reading, the other name. The problem is its a cast iron bitch to remember to do the posting only via the first name subbed. The echo coming back from a mailing list is seen as a duplicate by gmail and is deleted. Kmail 1.9 can do that theoretically if you set the sending account with a sticky bit, but that gets blown away entirely too easily. So trust but verify before you hit send, or clean house until you only have one send profile. I had a long talk with the google folks about that several years ago and found it was not even open for discussion. Some time later they decided my tls was not up to their specs, and I have now been using my isp's mail server since. I can't say as I miss gmail a bit.
