I ended up with:
| grep -Ei '^(Message-ID|References)' >> ~/.mutt/kill

The procmail recipe works without cleaning up with sed.

I ended up with:
| grep -Ei '^(Message-ID|References)'  >> ~/.mutt/kill

You need to kill the references to really kill the whole thread,
unless you kill the head.
