as it seems the level is basic these both lines are here (AFAIR) to make it possible that different PCs in the VPN see each other and that the PC on the VPN see the home network. This is configuring your client to have those routes. You can set those manually after establishing the VPN connection, but this makes it easier. => You need to read a bit more about routing and networking.
