I entirely agree with using mdadm rather than hardware raid, given the
choice, since it allows for switching the disks into a system with a
different card/adapter. But since RAID0 in this case is not JBOD, it's
my understanding you can't do that anyway. IIRC last time I had to deal
with this, we decided to just use the HW RAID and take advantage of the
(slight) performance improvement (we measured it). But that's a long
time ago now.
