Looks like your kernel isn't recognizing the ethernet controller. IF you're running a 2.2 kernel, you might try upgrading to a 2.4.
You might also try booting with a Knoppix CD and see if your NIC is recognized. If it is, then you can do a Knoppix Hard Drive install.
