Mine hangs because it's shutting down Firefox (Nightly from their website these days). Just as example, if I log out then log back in and run "ps aux|grep firefox" after logouts that take a long time, there will most likely be a long list of associated PIDs still in operation. If I try to launch Firefox at that moment, it will most likely fail with an advisement that a Firefox instance is already running. If I wait a few more seconds then try again, Firefox will FINALLY have shut down the rest of the way. It's been ages since I first realized that was occurring.
