While looking for something else not too long ago, I tripped over "apt-mark showinstall". LOVE IT! Very handy when other searches aren't working because you're not sure of the package name. If you do know a piece of the package name, you can... $ apt-mark showinstall | grep <desired_keyword> That's done with no asterisk (wild card). Be forewarned, I just sent mine to a text file that ended up being 1,787 lines. Each line represents a single, separate package ready to be pondered individually.
