I set the linux console mode with via a grub config option in /etc/default/grub. i.e. GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep Which I believe stops grub changing the display mode before starting linux, and linux itself just uses whatever mode the hardware is set to. -- Tixy
