Yes. And by the way, "df /tmp" is a much more intuitive way to get that same answer. unicorn:~$ df /tmp Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/sda7 23854928 20508268 2109568 91% / On my system, just like yours, /tmp is simply a plain ol' directory in the root file system.
