I get inexpensive server types from Dell or SuperMicro -- they tend to have well built power supplies and Xeon CPUs, they definitely aren't gamer boxes but they're faster than I am and they work good and last a long time, and mine've all needed civilized graphics cards. When one does come infected (just laptops, so far), I DBAN the disk and install from a Debian CD/DVD installer.
