Resizing volumes is not the only benefit of LVM. The fact that the volumes are named rather than numbered, and that the naming is stable is quite useful. Granted, you can get that with partlabels. If your system had been using LVM already, you could have copied your data without rebooting it. (You still would have needed to reboot to enable UEFI.) Regards, -- Nicolas George
