Those bug reports will have pretty much all been people asking for
sponsorship of packages.

That sponsorship process *is how mentorship on debian-mentors is done*.

It is also how the prospective mentors are going to request (or even
insist) that people who want their help go about asking for it.

It is not reasonable to disregard the traffic that takes place under
those bug reports as being ineligible to qualify as mentorship work.
