When I couldn't print I found this in the cups error_log

W [12/Mar/2026:00:57:05 -0700] Printer drivers are deprecated and will
stop working in a future version of CUPS. See
https://github.com/OpenPrinting/cups/issues/103

I went to the link but I don't know enough to know what it means and
more importantly how I can fix printing.
Perhaps take a look at
https://wiki.debian.org/SystemPrinting#Driverless_Printing
which has links to other Debian pages on the subject.

Thank you, David.

Will do.

You said "fix printing", so presumably it worked for you before.
What changed? Have you upgraded, changed printers, etc?
To go further, I think you have to post the usual essentials,
OS version, printer type, what you tried, what happened, etc.
Yes, you got a message, but that looks like the sort of warning
that could be emitted even when the job actually printed. So
on its own, it doesn't tell us a lot.

Initially I had tried to print wirelessly from my laptop. That's when I first couldn't print.

It was working a few days ago. I switched to Windows on same machine where the printer is connected and was able to print.

I did some Googling  which reminded me about the cups error log.

I followed the link and didn't understand anything I saw.
