Well, Roger, while I think my issue is fetchmail related, maybe you will know? For at least 2years while getting an imap receiving FastMail, mail in Alpine is ending up in a separate fastmail folder instead of incoming folders as an inbox. Here in Debian SID my fetchmail is in /usr/bin/fetchmail. If you have
any suggestions, please pass them along. Thanks so much in advance

I suggest starting a new thread with a new subject line.

It would be helpful if you showed us your configuration file.

What is your Mail Transfer Agent ? Run this command and show us your result :

root@titan ~ ss -tlpn sport 25
State   Recv-Q  Send-Q Local Address:Port  Peer Address:Port  Process
LISTEN 0 20 127.0.0.1:25 0.0.0.0:* users:(("exim4",pid=1573,fd=5)) LISTEN 0 20 [::1]:25 [::]:* users:(("exim4",pid=1573,fd=6))

It might be useful to show us the output of systemctl status <pid>, (1573 in my
case).

Roger

Yesterday I updated bookworm to trixie and unfortunately selected 'keep the old configuration file' for a few dovecot conf files.
This caused dovecot to refuse to start.
Fortunately apt kept the new files with the extension "ucf-dist" and with the help of the AI was able to locate the faults and put things back together. At one stage getmail was sending mail to dovecot deliver OK but deliver was putting mail in the wrong place.
This seems similar to the problem cited so I thought I'd mention it.
