Hi,

I've installed Debian 13 on a VirtualBox VM with the KDE desktop. At GUI login sddm let me to choose if I want to start a Plasma session with X11 or Wayland. Choosing Wayland, what make me wondered is that a Wayland server process seems missing:

~$ ps wwax |grep sddm
   1081 ? Ssl 0:00 /usr/bin/sddm
1988 tty2 Ssl+ 0:00 /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg -nolisten tcp -background none -seat seat0 vt2 -auth /run/sddm/xauth_MsOstO -noreset -displayfd 17 2103 ? S 0:00 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sddm/sddm-helper --socket /tmp/sddm-auth-377483a4-10cf-404f-be0b-e579b24c2d0d --id 2 --start /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/plasma-dbus-run-session-if-needed /usr/bin/startplasma-wayland --user myuser

~$ ps wwax |grep wayland
2103 ? S 0:00 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sddm/sddm-helper --socket /tmp/sddm-auth-377483a4-10cf-404f-be0b-e579b24c2d0d --id 2 --start /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/plasma-dbus-run-session-if-needed /usr/bin/startplasma-wayland --user myuser
   2166 tty1 Ssl+ 0:00 /usr/bin/startplasma-wayland
   2184 ? Ssl 0:00 /usr/bin/kwin_wayland_wrapper --xwayland
2195 ? Rl 1:09 /usr/bin/kwin_wayland --wayland-fd 7 --socket wayland-0 --xwayland-fd 8 --xwayland-fd 9 --xwayland-display :1 --xwayland-xauthority /run/user/1000/xauth_NAkQOc --xwayland 2253 ? S 0:00 /usr/bin/Xwayland :1 -auth /run/user/1000/xauth_NAkQOc -listenfd 8 -listenfd 9 -displayfd 69 -wm 71 -rootless
   2547 ? Ssl 0:00 /usr/bin/xwaylandvideobridge

Looking at the description of "xwayland" package it doesn't seem to be the Wayland parent process:

Description-en: X server for running X clients under Wayland
This package provides an X server running on top of wayland, using wayland input devices for input and forwarding either the root window or individual top-level windows as wayland surfaces.

So, how is the Wayland graphical server implemented? I was expecting a row such as:

1988 tty2 Ssl+ 0:00 /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg -nolisten tcp -background none -seat seat0 vt2 -auth /run/sddm/xauth_MsOstO -noreset -displayfd 17

but referred to the Wayland server. Thank you very much for any answer.

Kind regards,
