which mostly works well on Trixie + backports kernel and firmware, but I don't have working speaker, mic, or HDMI (or USB-C/DP) audio. What does work is the headphone jack (output only) and Bluetooth audio.

A couple of weeks ago sound started to work on openSUSE Tumbleweed, so I went back to figure out if it could be made to work yet on Debian. Upgraded to the latest kernel, firmware from backports as described before, etc. Now the dmesg bits were good, as were the ALSA devices, but something was not right in userspace still.

The final fix turned out to be installing alsa-ucm-conf from backports, which wired up everything correctly. So, this is what I needed from backports in the end:

alsa-ucm-conf
firmware-cirrus
firmware-intel-sound
linux-image-amd64
