One possible reason why this might be so for you is if /etc/postgresql/postgresql.conf is not linked to $PGDATA/postgresql.conf. PostgreSQL always looks at the latter, which ought to be a symlink to /etc/postgresql/postgresql.conf . > No. (Oh, that will work, but it is the wrong way to do it.
