i didn't know of that, thanksRealize you already solved it, but FYI, in 2.4.x you would do hdc=ide-scsi as the kernel parameter to tell the kernel which device is the cdrom, in 2.6.x, you would do hdc=cdrom (had to do it for my system to make it work)
i do have 2 scsci(really ide) drives at the moment though on /proc/scsi/scsi
i was playing and ended up losing sound and xine playback
ended up reverting to stock/debian 2.6.2 hand built, not debian method
now i have to figure why es1371 ain't being loaded manual modprobe works
xine now hangs on trying to play my hornblower dvd's (amazon 30quid for set of 8)
ogle take an inordinate time, but does play
