Well, if they did, they threw the "baby out with the bathwater". Prior,
the existing government was leading the polls -- The European
Socialists, are known to be against the war, as are the Spanish
Socialists. It's my understanding, that it's more of voters being
disgusted, that the 'in power government' tried to make political hay,
and blame the Basques. If this theory is correct, and it was indeed the
Spanish government deliberately trying to blame someone else, when they
knew the evidence/intelligence pointed somewhere else -- major
miscalculation. If the election was held later, they probably could have
done some damage control.

It was obviously a highly strategic bombing, so close to the election.

Lets hope this isn't a sign of things to come, and that some of the
political left, get there heads out of their arses. You cannot appease
this the other side. You cannot reason with people who have twisted a
good religion into a "faith". We're talking a very perverse form of
brainwashing here... I'm beginning to believe now, that Bush is probably
more right, than some of us on the left, wanted to accept at first.

This truly is a global war, unfortunately. If one doesn't connect the
dots, between what happened in Israel this past weekend, the insurgency
in Iraq and this bombing in Spain -- then one is truly stupid.
