Why should I fix the init script which works ok on my laptop? I do not have the knowledge to modify the init script. I suppose I should not file a bug since nobody supported that hypothesis. I suspect all this is about my old crap machine: during installation I was _not_ able to boot the debian 2.4.18bf24 kernel installed on the hd and I had to compile a debian kernel 2.4.24 package on my laptop for it and run base-config from rescue mode debian cds. In addition, during the install the machine sometimes complained about "corrupted" packages which were not: I had to use some 3.0r0 cds in replacement. Thanks for responding...
