ping -c 2 64.233.167.104 ping -c 2 www.google.com If the latter says something like "unknown host" or "cannot resolve www.google.com", you've a dns problem. What's in /etc/resolv.conf? If neither of them say anything intelligible, then you haven't actually created a connection. -- Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced.
