Your mail reader (likely mutt) does not interpret Format=Flowed (RFC 3676) the way Thunderbird does it. RFC sections 4.1 and 4.4 "space-stuffing" in case anybody wants to check on the glory details.
For mutt, setting both reflow_text and pipe_decode allow to verify such emails.
