Hi Sylvestre, thank you for your offer. I already collected some pointers in the debian/TODO file: http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-java/hadoop.git;a=blob;f=debian/TODO
There's also a wiki page on Hadoop in the Debian wiki http://wiki.debian.org/Hadoop I've not yet really used this page since I've been alone so far. So what's there exactly to do? src/native - some glue so that hadoop can use native compression libraries src/c++/libhdfs - see: http://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/LibHDFS "libhdfs is a JNI based C api for Hadoop's DFS. It provides a simple subset of C apis to manipulate DFS files and the filesystem" src/c++/pipes - see: http://hadoop.apache.org/common/docs/current/api/org/apache/hadoop/mapred/pipes/package- summary.html Allows to write Hadoop Jobs in C++ or to write wrappers for other swig supported languages (python, perl) src/contrib/fuse-dfs - mount HDFS And then there are many more interesting things in src/contrib that needs packaging...
