Sorry, I slightly forgot about this after filing an ITP. I believe I was having issues getting the Java binding generator correctly packaged, though I no longer remember the specific issue. You are welcome to take over; the debian directory in the SVN repository on http://code.google.com/p/lcm/ covers most of the basic parts of the packaging (my own packaging attempt was based on an older version, 0.4.1, and seems to now have been eclipsed by the upstream work).
