There is an example of its usage included in the package however its not compiling becasue of some changes ive made somewhere. Its listed as the 4 clause BSD license, however the upstream author has stated that the advertising clause isnt required which makes it GPL compatable. The package description is: libtar allows programs to create, extract and test tar archives. It supports both the strict POSIX tar format and many of the commonly-used GNU extensions. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux home 2.4.18-k7 #1 Sun Apr 14 13:19:11 EST 2002 i686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE= -- no debconf information --RyxVc5E,VW=.V2vZ Content-Type: application/pgp-signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE9RAFFWWZyfXiLlL8RAttJAJ9sgIfThk1UTHY2C9DoIGrMygMP9gCfdHro 2v0DXk94HHp8AR3sk79h4/0= =JAi3 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --RyxVc5E,VW=.V2vZ-- --------------------------------------- Received: (at 154597-close) by bugs.debian.org; 15 Aug 2002 04:32:35 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Aug 14 23:32:35 2002 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from auric.debian.org [206.246.226.45] (mail) by master.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.12 1 (Debian)) id 17fCJH-0008TW-00; Wed, 14 Aug 2002 23:32:35 -0500 Received: from katie by auric.debian.org with local (Exim 3.12 1 (Debian)) id 17fC4U-0004pa-00; Thu, 15 Aug 2002 00:17:18 -0400 From: James Morrison <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Katie: $Revision: 1.26 $ Subject: Bug#154597: fixed in libtar 1.2.5-4 Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sender: Archive Administrator <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Thu, 15 Aug 2002 00:17:18 -0400 Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of libtar, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: libtar-dev_1.2.5-4_sparc.deb to pool/main/libt/libtar/libtar-dev_1.2.5-4_sparc.deb libtar_1.2.5-4.diff.gz to pool/main/libt/libtar/libtar_1.2.5-4.diff.gz libtar_1.2.5-4.dsc to pool/main/libt/libtar/libtar_1.2.5-4.dsc libtar_1.2.5-4_sparc.deb to pool/main/libt/libtar/libtar_1.2.5-4_sparc.deb A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached.
