This is part of GNOME release since 3.10. I think this can be nice
addition to the empty GNOME screen after the installation. gdm should
launch this application in the first boot situation.

This wouldn't be very useful since all/most of the setup is done by d-i. Some integration would be needed, so that the installer defers the setup so that gnome-initial-setup can do it. I believe Laurent has investigated this.
