Seeing you agree that libgnome-games-support is a more suitable name, we
could use the 3.21 release cycle to do the switch. There are still not
that many games using the name yet in 3.20, so downstream distros would
not have to change much.
They will have to undergo a library transition anyway if the library is
renamed as part of [1]. Maybe we could piggy-back a complete rename.

If you are concerned about pissing off downstreams, we could ask on the
distributors mailing list first. I would offer to do that.
Would you be fine if we tried that and given other distros have no isue
with the rename we go for it in 3.21?

I think renaming the package alone wouldn't really help if the point is
to avoid file conflicts. We'd have to rename the library package as
well, including pkg-config file etc. Which in turn would mean patching
all affected packages. So if we are not going to rename it upstream, we
won't rename it downstream either imho.
