  Description : A decentralized messaging and sharing app built on top of
the SSB protocol

Patchwork is a decentralized messaging and sharing app built on top of the
SSB (Secure Scuttlebutt) protocol.
Secure Scuttlebutt is a "gossip protocol" which supports end-to-end encrypted,
private messages.
Each user produces a chronologically ordered list of "messages" which is
initially only stored on the device they install the client on, so that the data
and hence the identity of each user is tied to a single device.
Users sync their entire archive of messages between "friends" only when they're
on the same Wi-Fi network or connected to the same "pub" server.
The protocol is server-less and "pubs" only help with syncing.
All data is decentralized and after syncing can be also consumed offline.

==========

SSB is a social network for sailing paranoids as such it could find a solid
user base within Debian and derivatives.

Patchwork is the most polished among the SSB clients, and targeted for
non-geeks.
For more info of SSB see: https://www.scuttlebutt.nz/

Note: it is an Electron app.

Upstream names this app "patchwork" but the name is contended, see:
https://bugs.debian.org/703226#61
Since there hasn't been progress on that other RFP for over 1 year, I would
suggest trying to negotiate the name again ;-)
