There aren't many C image-reading libraries. libfreeimage is mostly-dead upstream, and is kinda weird. If SAIL was in Debian and is all the things that its website claims, I would consider moving my upstream software to use it instead of libfreeimage. So I'd like to see this in Debian, but have too much of a backlog to do the packaging myself, sadly.
