This package contains the full software development kit for .NET 8.0 applications. .NET is a fast, lightweight and modular platform for creating cross platform applications that work on GNU/Linux, macOS and Windows. It particularly focuses on creating console applications, web applications, and micro-services. .NET contains a runtime conforming to .NET Standards, a set of framework libraries, an SDK containing compilers, and a 'dotnet' CLI application to drive everything. --- This package is useful because there are increasing numbers of applications that use .NET 8.0 and manual installation of the .NET SDK may not be as easy as it sounds. It's a dependency for future packages that require .NET 8.0 to work, for example, I use .NET to make several useful applications and libraries. There is Mono that is a runtime for .NET Framework applications, but Mono can't build and/or run .NET 8.0 applications; only .NET Framework ones. Furthermore, Ubuntu has it already packaged starting from Jammy Jellyfish with .NET 6.0 and uodated it to .NET 8.0 on Noble Numbat. I would love to maintain it, but can't due to lack of time and resources to do it as I am having problems with electricity rolling blackouts and internet speeds slowing down in the afternoon until the dawn, as well as me being busy with important things and software development.
